Fort Wayne FC added attacker Owen Wall, attacker Matthew Catavolo and defender Hubert Deragon to its ranks Friday, finalizing the roster at 28 players in advance of the May 11 season opener at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium against Sueño FC.
The club is looking to capture a playoff berth for a third straight season at the USL League Two level before it moves to the professional ranks of USL League One in 2026, when Fort Wayne FC will move into a new soccer-specific stadium at Bass Road and I-69 that will be the largest outdoor stadium in Northeast Indiana.
Season tickets for this season are on sale and those who buy in 2025 get priority for 2026.
And the 2025 season will be an exciting one with the roster Fort Wayne FC has put together. It includes local players, such as Reid Sproat, Namik Mehic and David Anderson; returning stars, like Tiago Dias, Aurie Briscoe and Aboubacar Traore; and players with professional experience such as Alsadiq Hasan, Tavio D’Almeida and Nathan Ntalu.
Fort Wayne FC’s three latest additions – Wall, Catavolo and Deragon – will strengthen the already formidable roster, which now has an average age of 21.8 years old.
All roster additions are pending league and federation approval.
Wall, an 18-year-old from Chandler, Arizona, played last season for Real Salt Lake’s MLS Next Pro-Arizona team. He was named a “Player to Watch” in 2023 at MLS Next Fest and is slated to play college soccer for the University of California, Santa Barbara.
“Owen is just scratching the surface of who he can be as a player, and his progress over the last year is demonstrative of that development,” said Fort Wayne FC’s head coach, Mike Avery. “Owen is a top athlete with elite-level quickness, and he sees the game in a way that is beyond his years. He has been in great club environments, most recently with Real Salt Lake AZ, and has seen the benefit of quality coaching.
“As he continues to mature physically, his game is really starting to come together. He can play across the front three, as a wide midfielder, or from a more central position, and he can impact the game in a variety of ways.”
Another player out of MLS Next Pro, Catavolo, 22, played in 36 matches between 2023 and 2024 for Toronto FC II and scored a goal. A native of Montreal, he has 16 games of professional experience in the Canadian Premier League with Valour FC and he’s played six matches for Canada’s U-20 team, scoring three goals.
“Matthew is an exciting, creative, and experienced attacking player who adds the final touch to an explosive attacking group,” Avery said. “His experience at the professional level in MLS Next Pro and the Canadian League is something we will look to tap into, as well as his youth international experience with the Canadian U-17 and U-20 National Team sides.
“Matthew can come off the wing or operate underneath the strikers in those creative No. 10 pockets, and he will be a great complement to the attacking players we already have on board. Matthew is still a young player who has his best years ahead of him. His professional approach to his craft not only serves him well as he pursues his goals in the game, but also sets a great example to everyone around him.”
Deragon, 21, who is from Quebec City, Quebec, appeared in 10 matches last season for East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, and had a goal and an assist. He’ll play this fall for Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California.
“Hubert has a high IQ for the game, makes good decisions on and off the ball, and has the ability to deliver a final pass or shot with great quality,” Avery said. “Hubert understands this opportunity with Fort Wayne FC can add another high-level experience to his arsenal and help prepare him for the professional game, and he is very driven to take full advantage of it.”
